Market Day ~ You say tomatoes…I say YAY!

There were times when we thought this would never come to be. Through our wet and dreary spring (remember those first days of market?), it seemed it would never get hot enough for tomatoes. But one by one those little orbs have ripened up. And now we may even see them at the market at the Deep Roots Farm stall.

Don’t forget! You are welcome to use the KAISER PARKING LOT right next the market. And there’s also bike parking in front of the little Kaiser building next to the market facing the park. Of course, you can always take MAX, too. It’s easy to get here!

GET A MARKET BASKET AND BE ON YOUR WAY
Many of you have signed up for our new Market Baskets offer, a CSA-type service that allows you to just swing by the market and pick up your pre-packed order. We’re glad you like this service! If you haven’t signed up yet you can still get in on this time-saving service. The LADYBUG BASKET is $25 each week and gives you a variety of the best produce in peak season that week.  The BLUEBIRD BASKET is larger and gets you more fresh produce, plus a non-produce extra, like bread, honey, eggs or cheese. It costs $40 each week.

Sign up for your Market Basket at the Info Booth. Then pick up your pre-packed basket at the market anytime between 3 and 6:30 PM.

BRING A PICNIC BLANKET AND ENJOY DINNER WITH NEIGHBORS
After you’ve done your shopping enjoy dinner al fresco with friends under the trees in Overlook Park. Micro-Mercantes/Hacienda is serving up their market-favorite tamales, and Thai Mama is serving up plates of goodness made with local ingredients (and some gluten-free options, too!).

WORMS!
Our friends from Eccentric Acres will bring a food-related product. Well, related in that they help make great soil which grows great food! They’ll have their oyster mushroom bags, and culinary herb pots. Talk to them about their creative rainwater systems, grow systems, and their worm bins.

MEAT & PRODUCE & MORE
We’ll have a full spread of greens, artichokes, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squashes, radish, parsley, cilantro, cherries, raspberries, basil, rhubarb, potatoes and other mid-summer fruits and vegetables.

Winters Family Farm’s bounty this week will include corn (yay!) plus honey, jams & syrup.

Get grass-fed and finished beef and lamb, pasture-raised poultry and eggs, natural pork, and goat from Sweet Home Farm

BAKED GOODS AND YUMMIES
Being a late-day market you know we’ve got to have some dessert, right? Proprietress Amaranth of Ammie’s Goodies uses fresh, locally grown fruit in many of her filled baked goods. Find her booth in the middle walkway of the market. We’ll also have lots of other baked goods, thanks to Lillikoi, with flower blossom cookies, Hawaiian sweet bread, and passionfruit ice tea. The Pie Spot will have their individual-sized artisan pies, perfect for a picnic dessert! Gabriel’s Bakery will have their fresh-baked spread. And Missionary Chocolates: beautiful, gluten-free and vegan!
