Market Day ~ At the Market: June 30th

Hooray! It’s finally, really summer!

Thanks to all of you who came out for the market last week and brought your friends. We were so excited to see everyone lounging under the trees munching their goodies from the market and enjoying the community we’ve all become.

First, a little housekeeping. Did you know there is AMPLE PARKING right next the market in the Kaiser parking lot? There IS! And there’s also bike parking in front of the little building we’re next to, facing the park. Of course, you can always take MAX, too. It’s easy to get here!

LET US SHOP FOR YOU
We now offer Market Baskets, a CSA-type service that allows you to just swing by the market and pick up your pre-packed order. The Ladybug Basket is $25 each week and gives you a variety of the best produce in peak season that week. At $40 the Bluebird Basket is larger and gets you more fresh produce, plus a non-produce extra, like bread, honey, eggs or cheese.

Sign up for your Market Basket at the Info Booth. Then pick up your pre-packed basket at the market anytime between 3 and 6:30 PM.

BERRIES!
This week we’ll have berries from Aichele Farms, Boones Ferry Berry Farm, Unger Farms and Baird Family Orchards. Stock up for freezing, jamming-if you can keep from eating them before you get home!

BAKED GOODS
We’ll have lots of baked good, too, thanks to The Pie Spot, an artisan pie company specializing in individual sized pies, perfect for a picnic dessert! Gabriel’s Bakery is back, along with Ammie’s (vegan and gluten-free!) Goodies.

MEAT & PRODUCE & MORE
Stock up on home-cooking basics with produce from Deep Roots Farm, DeMartini Family Farms, ProFarm Produce, Liepold Farms and Herr’s Family Farm. Get grass-fed and finished beef and lamb, pasture-raised poultry and eggs, natural pork, and goat from Sweet Home Farms.

Jacob’s Creamery will have fresh butter and dairy products. And Winters Family Farm will have a huge spread of a variety of fruits and veggies, plus their honey, jams and syrups.

YUMMIES
Little Brown Box & Co. is back with their granola in pretty little boxes. And Missionary Chocolates: gluten-free and vegan!

AND MORE YUMMIES
Have you visited Olympic Provisions for a sample of their cured meats? Theirs are the only USDA approved organic cured pork products. Captured by Porches is serving up pints of beer (you heard that right!) and you can pick up a growler.

PICK UP DINNER AND STAY AWHILE!
After you’ve done your shopping enjoy dinner al fresco with your neighbors. Micro-Mercantes/Hacienda is serving up their market-favorite tamales, and Thai Mama is serving up plates of goodness made with local ingredients (and some gluten-free options, too!).

COFFEE TO GO
Want to roast your own coffee? Mr. Green Beans sells unroasted green coffee beans. And Trailhead Coffee serves up organic coffees from the all-women Café Femenino Cooperative.

Not in This Week:
Sage and Sea Farms (back next week)
Eccentric Acres
The Hummus Shop

See you at the market!

Market Day ~ Cherries are here!!

Dispite this seemingly never-ending dismal, wet weather, summer crops are persevering, and this week Baird Family Orchards rejoins the market with a beautiful cherry harvest!  They’ll have sweet, fresh Brooks cherries for one week only, so stock up for dehydrating, freezing, jam-making, etc.  They’ll also have the ever popular Rainiers to keep us happily munching stonefruit until peach season.

Ammie’s Goodies also joins the market for the first time this week, peddling vegan, gluten free treats!  Look for them in the center aisle along with Olympic Provisions and Trailhead Coffee

We’re also happy to announce that Jacobs Creamery has joined the market with their delightful butters, cheeses, yogurts, and more!

There’s more summer bounty being harvested than you might expect, so come get your share this Wednesday!  There will be cucumbers, raspberries, strawberries, tayberries, lettuces, collards, chard, carrots, kohlrabi, bok choi, herbs, peas, onions, potatoes, asparagus, flowers and so much more!

Market Day ~ Support your farmers…IN THE RAIN!

Do you get paid even if it rains on payday?  Farmers usually can’t answer yes.  Your patronage at the market makes a big difference in their livelihood, so do your grocery shopping at the market and support fresh, local and *delicious*!!

Thanks for being an integral part of the market!  We appreciate you!  Stop by the Info Booth to pick up recipes using the ingredients you’ll find at the market.

Market Day ~ Thanks for coming!

Thanks to all those who made it out to the market this week!  It means a lot to our farmers that you support them rain or shine.  Next week we have Goldin’s Goat Cheese joining the market, and will still have strawberries galore!  Stay tuned for delicious recipies involving those two things and all the other great local food from the market.  Also on Wednesday we’ll be welcoming back Petunia’s Pies and Pastries and Pie Spot, so plan your dessert needs accordingly!  And those sweet treat go pretty darn well with Trailhead hot or iced coffee…just saying.
